Reldun OS is a secure systems research initiative focused on privacy, isolation and disciplined control at the lowest levels of computing. Designed by Black Diamond Project Corp, it explores how operating-system architecture can better protect identity, activity and sensitive workflows in high-trust environments.

Kernel-Boundary Security Architecture

The kernel boundary is where enforcement happens. Reldun OS research explores how control decisions enforced at this critical boundary can constrain what software is permitted to do, regardless of user intent or trust assumptions.

By treating the kernel as the enforcement point rather than a trusted facilitator, we investigate how system policies can be made immutable from within user space, ensuring that sensitive workflows cannot be circumvented by compromised software.

This is foundational to meaningful security in high-trust environments where the operating system itself becomes the primary guarantor of system integrity.

Enforcement at the Boundary

Control enforced at the kernel level cannot be bypassed by user-space code, ensuring hard security guarantees for sensitive operations.

Privacy as Architecture

Rather than treating privacy as an optional feature, it is embedded into the fundamental design of system components and data flows.

Privacy-First System Design

Privacy in conventional systems is often a configuration option, an afterthought, or a feature that can be disabled. Reldun OS treats privacy as an architectural property that cannot be compromised or worked around.

This means designing system components from the ground up to minimize collection, reduce exposure, and restrict what information is available to whom at each layer of the system stack.

Every component, from the boot process through to application isolation, is evaluated for its privacy implications and designed to maintain tight boundaries around sensitive data.

Focus Area 3

Capability-Restricted Access

The principle of least privilege is not new, but applying it consistently across an entire operating system is a significant engineering challenge. Reldun OS research focuses on how capability-based security models can restrict components to only the permissions they actually require.

Rather than granting broad permissions and trusting software to self-regulate, Reldun OS investigates how the kernel can enforce granular, fine-grained access controls that prevent over-privileged code from accessing resources it does not need.

This reduces the blast radius of any single compromised component and ensures that even sophisticated attacks cannot escalate beyond the minimum necessary scope.

Least-Privilege Enforcement

Every component runs with only the capabilities it needs, reducing the scope of damage if a component is compromised.

Deliberate Information Flow

Identity, activity, and resources are only exposed when explicitly necessary for a specific purpose, with all other access denied by default.

Controlled Exposure of Identity and Resources

Modern systems leak information by default. Reldun OS research investigates how identity, activity logs, resource availability, and system state can be selectively and deliberately exposed only to the specific software and contexts that truly require them.

Rather than broadcasting system information widely or exposing it reactively, Reldun OS takes a deliberate approach: deny access to all information by default, then grant access only when justified by clear policy.

This transforms the attack surface by ensuring that compromised or malicious code cannot passively harvest information about the system, other users, or the environment it operates within.
